I've used it successfully with several types of paint including Pollyscale and Badger Modelflex. I really don't think it matters on the type of paint you use. <br /> <br />I use a stiff fiberglass pencil for scratching back rather than the metal one shown in Bob's link, they are less aggressive and allows you to build up the scratching rather than taking so much paint off at once. <br /> <br />I usually stain the wood with black/brown acrylic inks before painting.
