Wow! What a heated discussion this is.

As a relatively new forum member and new model railroader, I would like to say the the original post made some good points. I feel that spelling is important only in the fact that your message be understood. This is what everyone that visits here wants, to understand and be understood. We all want to help each other and it makes it easier if the poster's message is clear.

We must remember that we are all of different abilities, skill levels, knowledge and education. Some of the veteran members are wonderful and very generous in answering what may seem the most simple and basic questions. Others, I am sure get bored with the repeated questions about brass track, layout size, what scale to model, etc. I tried a search when I first joined. It was difficult, because the title headings did not always match what I really wanted to know. There is also so much information to sift though. Sometimes it is just easier to post you question and wait for the responses.

For the veterans, thank you for your wealth of information and your patience.

For the newbees, remember that you are communicating with people of all ages. Some of the older members have no clue about text messaging and the abbreviations. Me included and I am only 37. If you want good responses, just make your message clear. I am sure that the more detail that you can provide would be most advantageous to those of us trying to help you.

It did not take me long to figure out what LHS was, but i still do not know what LOL is.

Jeff
