HO AHM/Rivarossi FEF 8444 needs some help
Posted by Trainnut484 on Thursday, June 2, 2005 10:19 PM
I've been looking around for some time for parts for an HO AHM/Rivarossi 8444, but my leads come to a dead end. It's in the classic all black scheme. The most important part I'm looking for is a geared driver axle. Fireman's side elephant ear(smoke deflector), and a light bulb are needed too. The locomotive was made in the early 1980s. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Sorry if this similar quest was posted in another topic.

Take care,

Russell

Have you already talked to Golf Manor Hobbies in Cincinnati? If so, I can't help; if you haven't, do it.
What could have happened.... did.

And if Virginian's suggestion does not pan out, your choices are:

- make it a static model
- buy a complete replacement locomotive for parts or replacement, some dealers still have them
- adapt a Bowser chassis for the Bachmann UP 4-8-4.

I've emailed them a couple of times and haven't got a response. I guess they're not interested in my query.

Take care,

Call them. The price of a Tel call will be your cheapest part.

I don't know how that will help since my model is AHM/Rivarossi.

I guess I'll have to. I don't have to pay for long distance anyway.

Russell;

Basically, you take the shell off your model, and put it on this:

You may also need one of these:
1-150681 Electrical Kit Mono 14 Wheel Tender $24.95
635-2291 Union Pacific Centipede Tender - Coal $54.98
635-2292 Union Pacific Centipede Tender - Oil $54.98

Another choice is:

I'm not following on how an AHM/Rivarossi shell can fit on an Bachmann Chassis. I don't think it would look or fit proper without going into much modification. However, repowering with a Bowser mechanism could be another option to make my locomotive run better.

I called Golf Manor Hobbies earlier today, and they recommended mailing them the locomotive for repairs instead of purchasing parts that may or may not fit. That sounds good to me.
