Walthers Backshop Building
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, May 24, 2005 11:26 AM
I am presently looking for two Walthers Backshop buildings (Walthers # (9333039) that I can kitbash for low reveal flats against a sidewall on my shelf railroad. They are presently "retired" according to Walthers. Can anyone help locate?

Thank you

Hi Larry, If you haven't done so, check with the shops on the list of those that have oredered the kit recently. At the item page, click on "find it". They say that you will get a positive response about 1 in 4 tries. Good Luck!

Ray Seneca Lake, Ontario, and Western R.R. (S.L.O.&W.) in HO

We'll get there sooner or later!

Howmus

I did that with one of two shops that received the structure kits this calender year. One one of two responded and unfortunately he was sold out. I will try with some of the places that received this kit late in 2004.

Thanks again,

Larry

I'm surprised that Walthers retired this kit! A locomotive shop like this blends in past and current time periods.

I bought the Walthers freight car repair shop, which is very similar to this building. Same length and width but shorter in height. Same architecture. I won it on Ebay for only $23 !

I'll be using it as my locomotive servicing shop. I plan on detailing the interior and will add lighting to it. If you can't find the Back Shop building, consider using this building instead. Just like the backshop, you can always splice the other Walthers building kits to it if you want a larger facility.

Hope this helps!

Thank you. My plan was to kitba***hem into something about 60" long and probably two to three inchs deep. With a shelf road I only have 24" to play. I also needed a power plant from Korber and should have bought it during a recent hobby show. I ended up scratch building one from foamcore and strip plastic with a total length of 50". I am very please with my first incursion into scratch building.
