Athearn Genesis and those darn light bulbs
Posted by jwr_1986 on Tuesday, May 17, 2005 8:21 PM
I managed to blow the two rear lights out of my SD70M and now I need a replacement. Does anyone know the direct replacement for this bulb. I would like a model number or anything to that effect and if available the website of the seller. If minitronics makes one that would work tell me which one and I'll pick one up when I go to the LHS Thursday.

This is really a horrible way to end an otherwise perfect day. [V]

Thanks
Jesse

Been there done that. Blew mine out twice with the Athearn supplied lamps. ARGH...
In the end I replaced all of the SD-70M lamps with Miniatronics 1.5V 1.2mm, 15 mA bulbs along with 860 resistors. Part # 18-001. This was for a DCC installation. Been fine since I threw out the Athearn bulbs. My Genesis SD-70 Spartan cab was a real treat to replace the ditch lights....

it would be nice if in their directions they would state that bulbs and ditch lights need resistors on them. when I see DCC ready I think just that. I bought my first Genesis unit and not very impressed with it. I have not bought anything Athearn in 7 years, now I know why.
