HOGGER POWER PACK

I had my Hogger 101MW power pack for some time, When I first got it, I had to sent it back after two days of using it. Well today I had my favorite train on the rails and when I started to run it, it just stop. The Hogger was on fire. Smoke was coming out. I was told that this power pack had problems from the start. That was the reason that it was taken off the market and the Super Blue to replace it. Do anyone know anything about this. I can't get it repair because the company is out of business.

i believe there is no overload protection or a circuit breaker on the dc side of the power pack. i had a short and my hogger stopped working. i took it to a hobby shop that has a repair service and they wouldn't even look at it as it is not ul rated and their insurance wouldn't cover them repairing it. i got home and drilled out the rivets and i found a burnt resistor on the circuit board. i went to radio shack and got five of them for 95 cents. soldered one in and it's been working fine since. my club has three hoggers and they have more power to operate trains and accessories than the mrc packs. just be careful with overloads and shorts. i don't use mine anymore as i've switched to dcc but i won't get rid of it.
