spectrum locos always generate these Bachmann bashing threads. Bachmann has a lot of not so stellar history to overcome from thier inexpensive lines. The spectrum shays are excellent. I have three and they creep like swiss watches and they look great. The Spectrum 2-8-0 is IMHO the best deal in plastic steam right now. It looks and runs great for $50.00. As for the other stuff they produce, I can't say as I don't have direct experience. It is certainly unfortunate that you got a lemon. I would contact Bachmann and see if they can make it right. <br /> <br />Guy
