Does anyone make locomotive kits anymore, or is everything r-t-r?

You can still find some MDC Roundhouse kits at some hobby outlets. Also on eBay. But who knows what Horizon Hobbies will let us have.

Bowser is about the only game in town.

(Thanks for the reminder Leon!)

Standard Hobby's general catalogue lists a full range of Bowser Kits, the majority of which are PRR prototypes. These are all metal kits.

When I was in HO, I put together the Bowser K4 Pacific. I would recommend it to anyone in HO.
Enjoy

Bowser is still making locomotive kits, but be prepared for a lot of assembly work -- they are unpainted Zamac(?) metal castings.

Here is another company:

also look on ebay for Mantua/Tyco kits.

Bowser is the easiest to deal with. Trainworld is closing out Bowser with some excellent prices.
Nigel N&W in HO scale, 1950 - 1955 (..and some a bit newer too) Now in San Jose, California
