That's excelent!! If this is your FIRST ATTEMPT!!
I can't wait to see what you can do with your later "attempts"
How long did it take you to build it? Is it based on a prototype?

Sweet! If everything is going to built to that caliber, you'll have one fine layout!

WOW! Nice job! I'd like to try my hand at real scratch-building but yours is a lot more than I would attempt. The only thing I've scratch-built is an outhouse and a small shed. Again, great work!

The potted plant in the background is way out of scale - Go back and try it again. Oh wait, that's real.[oX)]

Great job. I look forward to seeing more of your work.[bow]

Thanks for the nice comments and my girlfriend thanks you also! When I tell her I am working on the layout, she thinks I am out running around on her! LOL with other women!

Thats your first attempt?

Your a natural. You should write an article for MR on how you built that.

Nice job--REALLY nice job! Now that you've broken the ice, so to speak, I'll bet that there will be a lot of scratch-built structures on your layout. Just curious--what scale?
Keep up the good work, I LIKE it!

I turlly love it to death, I think its amazing, BUT........... If I may add some stuff that you might want to look at, and please, I fi were you in this situation I would really take offence at the ONE bad thing and not focus on the million GREAT things about your FIRST attempt. BUT, None the less, here it comes.
It looks a bit gingerbreadish! Thats all, other then that, its amazing!

A very nice model save for your roof rafters. A couple of points regarding these. Firstly, they are dramatically over-size, to my eyes the largest looking something like 8x24's - way too large. Secondly, rafter tails will not normally extend beyond the edge of the roof itself and the ends will typically be cut parallel to the walls on a well-pitched roof. Finally, rafter spacing would not be expected to vary significantly from one roof to the next...judging by the "age" of your structure, odds have it that this might amount to 24"-30" (some 19th century structures went as far as 48" OC ! ). Short of these few items, a really outstanding job for a first effort.

Thanks for all the nice comments. I am overwelmed. I am modeling HO but wonder if I didn't build them a little big for the scale.

I used rubbing alcohol with a few drops of black India ink for the weathering. Just brush it on. its so easy! instand weathering. also used some colored pencils on some sections before hand. I also put lights in them for night time running.

I just start with cutting out 4 walls and keep adding from there. I have no idea how its going to look when I start. Just comes out of my head.

Thanks again for the nice comments. Going to be putting down some roadbed soon!
