Don't use water based stain on Campbell shingles. The glue that sticks them down is water based. There is nothing worse than to spend hours shingling a roof only to have things loosen up when you stain the roof. I have used oils from the paint store thinned with turpentine to good effect. Burnt siena, black and raw sienna all work well in combination. <br /> <br />Guy
