Miniatures by Eric in Calgary makes all kinds of brass details for Canadian roads. There are many suppliers in Canada, Central Hobbies in Vancouver being one:

You might check with Walthers, I don't recall if they carry their parts or not. The only problem I see is their part numbers don't really tell you what they are, like "Horn H-1" or something like that. I've been lucky that some local shops carry their parts and I can check them out in person.

Their set #L1 containes "CPR SD40-2 ditch lights & lift rings" which I used on this model:

This model will be in the March issue of "Model Railroading" magazine, showing how I did it. See here: http://www.modelrailroadingmag.com/images/2005/0503Cov.jpg

Good luck!

go to www.internettrains.com or www.discounttrainsonline.com and look at the locomotive detailing parts section, my favorites are from Details West and Detail Associates. ...chuck

I tried to make my 3 Kato SD40s and SD40-2s more prototypical, and I failed miserably. I hope FundyNortherns' article will help me. I added prototypical horn, bell, and on the '40, lights to my models, and they look terrible. I also added a new blower duct to one of my -2s, (Renumbered from 5904 to 5869) and I can't get it to fit just right. Living in calgary, I have good acess to these detail parts.
