Changing out drivers on a Roundhouse 2-8-0

I've recently completed a kitbash of a Roundhouse 4-4-0. Now I'm going to start on a Roundhouse 2-8-0. I'm going to turn it into a light Mikado, and I want to give it a "husky" look. I want to put smaller drivers on it, and I've never done so. Is it very difficult, and what all would I need to besides the drivers to complete my task? Thank you for the help.

You'll need new drivers, new main rods, and possibly new valve gear linkages. Your best bet will be to either buy one of each of Bowser's valve gear and rod parts to look for the parts that will work, or make your own rods out of brass stock.

And don't forget, since you're lowering the chassis with smaller drivers, you're going to have to do some SERIOUS grinding down of that lead-truck casting--that's one THICK little sucker. But that's the wonderful thing about those Roundhouse steamers--they really lend themselves well to 'kit-bashing.' Good luck--and post some photos of the finished product, okay?
