I didnt do alot to my personal layout this weekend, but I manage to do a couple of little things. I also destroyed my city and started to redesign it !
Down town I tore up all the track and raised it .

Weathered and some graffitti also restenciled.

I have been working on a small layout with a couple of friends these past few weeks. The competition rules said it not only had to work, but everything also had to fit in a shoebox.

Well I worked alittle bit on my little layout. Layed some more of the track on my second sections. It's going well. Looks a bit bleak but I have an idea of what it looks like in my head.





think I'm gonna have to break down and order some more turnouts..to keep things rolling.

Hello all, hope everyone is doing well.

My first Sunday photos I've been able to share. Finally got the Cab forward with the VCR motor in it. Woo Hoo. Had a great weekend.

Finally got the cab forward. It has a VCR motor in it. It has pulled 60+ cars the grade at SDRR musuem.

Turbo, Theres Jack N. In that pic. He was just here at Mohegan Sun Casino a couple of months ago and I met him and many other "Celebrities" My buddy Harry is a big time actor and I just recently got me into it about 1 1/2 years ago (thats a very short time). So we went to this VIP party at the B B King Club. The coolest dude I actually hung with for two days was Will Smith. Yea no lie. Will is mad cool. I met him back in 1997 at Mohegan Sun when I was a sercurity Officer and of course he did not remember me nor did I ask. It was me, Will, Harry, and Wills cool buddy Flip. It was hot. Jack was there that night and I met him for a hot minute he had those same corny***shades on too.

Well here's the deal.....A few weeks ago, a local club was looking to help a lady find a new home for her deceased husband's layout. I took my wife to take a look at it, and she said we should get it. So I did. The past couple of weeks have been spent trying to figure out how to shoehorn a 5x14 into a tiny SoCal garage, and to clean it and figure out how and why he did things the way he did. It was incomplete scenery-wise, but everything was done first rate...Peco turnouts and switch machines, a homemade power systems with seperate accessory and track transformers...just a class job. He even devised a pulley system and had it suspended from the ceiling...unfortunately, I could not take advantage of that aspect. This weeekend I installed a Prodigy Advance DCC system and have been shaking it out. Here's a few pics.

I acquired a set of Kato SD38-2's in EJ&E paint on Friday. Experimented with my own (I think?) method of painting CN-style tiger stripes on the side of the hood --- I'm encouraged by the results so far. Here is a before-and-after photo of an unmodified unit and a unit with the striping for my private pike:

Here are a couple pics of my latest scratchbuild project. It will be a phase 3 GE 25 ton industrial switcher when done. Still have a lot of work to do on it.

Dan, great purchase. Looks way cool, how did you transport it at its size ?

Great purchase is an understatement......it was free.

Four guys and a utility trailer as a single piece. I prefabricated the legs and we raised it on the pulleys to that level, and set them underneath. Then released the tension and let it rest, while we unhooked it. LIfted, let the legs fall free and carried to trailer. It was stressed to hang, so we carried it at those points. Only minimal damage during tranport, a testament to the workmanship.

Here's my contibution tt my local club. I took it home to glue in the rails and decided if it was going on my part of the layout it ould be done properly. The only problem is that I spent so much time on the inside of the building that I didin't get time to work on the outside. And no kidding, this will be in a remote corner, seen only from a distance of 8 feet and you have to lean over a turntable 2 feet into the layout to see it. And there is no light in that section of the track.
