Ditto on the space thingy! Not alot of room for a layout in a 31' RV. Wish I could knock out the windshield and build about a 15' extension on the front of the RV! lol Might get a little interesting going down the road!

Don't get so frustrated that you give up the hobby. If something you're working on isn't working out, leave it alone and do something else. Go back to it later when you have the mind set to tackle the problem and things usually turn out well.
We have the same general problems as the prototype railroads. If derailments are a common problem, then go over ALL your track for gage, especially turnouts, and fix any kinks, gaps, misalignments or bumps. Check the vertical alignment too, especially at the bottom and top, if there are grades.
Don't try to run equipment on trackage not suitable for that type of equipment (eg: a 6 axle loco or long steamer through a #4 crossover) or equipment not compatible with other equipment ( eg: 86' car coupled to a 34' car going around a 18" radius curve in HO scale is an exercise in frustration)
Also, as a part of a normal maintenance routine, check the wheels for gage and rolling ability, the trucks for the correct tightness and free movement and the couplers / trip pins for correct hight and operation.

What frustrates me? After doing lots of research for a project, like finding prototype photos, then finding more or better photos after the project is finished and discovering I didn't get something right.

From a purely modelling viewpoint my biggest frustration is when I'm driving track nails (either for roadbed or track) and there's a particularly hard section of wood directly below which causes the wee little track nail to bend and buckle. DOH!

When I build my extension...I will definitely be using a higher grade of plywood.

Time and $$$
And me being such a procrastinator doesn't really help.
Its bad enough that I'm caught up in college entrance exams and all that, so my layout is going SSSLLLOOOWWWLLYYY.
I'm also rather worried about moving the thing, that keeps me from sleep every night.
The layout will be rather large (for me anyways), a 6'x20' dogbone. Its going to be in 4' or so sections.
I am just worried because I'll be off to college next summer, then I'll have my own house; but I want my layout with me, though I'll have a hard enough time getting it up the basement stairs in sections....if it will be possible, let alone transporting it

My main frustration is lack of funds and time (i'm 13 and still in school[;)]) but also power shorts as i haven't soldered my rail joiners yet, i am still in planning stages and set up trackplans on the floor frequently.

That I had to add too, (forgot about it while worrying about my move)
POWER SHORTS SUCK. I run a simple loop just to complete the 1st section of my layout (the only one thats finished), just to see my trains run. I'm using EZ track for that and I have some frequent shorts. I fall on my knees every time I have to push a loco over a bad section.
