When I install the resistance spring for sergent couplers,  I use a tooth pick to pick up the spring by sticking the toothpick into the end of the spring.  I then slide it into position with the toothpick and using the back of a #11 blade, I carefully compress the spring and put it into place. I did the same thing with Kadees. Does still require good vision or magnifier.
