I concur with the previous posts suggesting that BLI or Lifelike make an "affordable" E5 with sound. They could really break my train budget by offering them in both FW&D and C&S AB sets with transition era black stripes.

Definitely the DL&W Q-class 4-8-4s. And the CNJ babyfaces!!
Reading T-1s would be nice, too.

New York Central called the 4-8-2 "Mohawk," not "Mikado."

Okay...I would pretty much do anything for a nice N scale model of any turbine, especially the PRR 6-8-6 S2 turbine.

But I'd also like to see a nice plastic model, maybe a Bachmann Spectrum, of the proposed ACE3000.

Now THAT would be cool.

For Atlas to bring out their RSD4/5 in N scale in Milwaukee Road & CNW, for Kato to to add new road numbers to their RSC2's in Milwaukee Road & UP and Kato and Atlas to add new road numbers to their RS2's and RS3's in CP, GN, and other MidWestern roads. Can you tell I like Milwaukee Road, CNW & GN? And while they are at it, an Alco C636 in SP&S from Atlas in N scale!

HO Kato F40PH's in more schemes than just Amtrak or Chicago RTA. Maybe other amtrak phases, the later Metra, Cal train, Via, and of course, my favorite......MBTA! There's a plethora of schemes to be produced! Too bad Kato seems focus more on midwestern prototypes and N scale though.

And an oddball that seems to be gaining popularity, the MPI MP36PH. Metra, Cal train, and New Mexico own them, and GO transit may get some in the future. A limited market, but I see some viability in producing them.[8D]

Asking a question like this is like trying to take a small sip of water while standing under Niagra Falls! You're going to get flooded out with responses, as already witnessed.

For my 2 cents, how about some smooth running small steam in N scale. Something with all wheel pickup so that it can crawl over a turnout and some good gearing to insure smooth performance. You pick the wheel arangement. Just fill the hole that we have in N scale with some 0-4-0's, 0-6-0's, 4-6-0's (yes, I heard they are on the way), and maybe even an Atlantic just for giggles.

DCC ready with sound may be too much to ask for, but this is a wish list, right? [8D]

Short answer, very little - digital ready usually means that a loco has a socket factory-fitted to make adding a DCC decoder easier, but doesn't have a decoder fitted - analog locos have no decoder fitted and may or may not be easy to convert - most current production models are a fairly simple job. Most locos that are factory fitted with a DCC decoder will still run on standard 12v DC power though, so if you see such a loco but don't have DCC control gear yet it'll run happily enough on your existing power pack for the time being.

A Heisler in On30!!!!!! I like the 4-8-0 N&W idea as well! Would love to have a Rock Island 5000 class 4-8-4 ( or the Mil S series so I can bash one into a RI) Sighs how about some small steam ( pick a scale I guess) I like the On30 stuff now and a lot of it is turn of the century style but would love to see more in other scales. Like a few moguls and old school consolidations!

Yes we are on time but this is yesterdays train

I heard Bachmann will be making a model of the SRRL Forney locomotive in On30. This is one I want. I have their On30 Mogul, Climax, and Porters and they look great, run well, and are very affordable. I'm glad Bachmann is producing high-quality, affordable locomotives and am anxious about their future releases. This opens up the realm of narrow gauge modeling and O scale to many people who can neither afford nor desire expensive brass.
