Most people these days don´t know, that he had to be naturalized to resume this post. Anyway, these bad times in the otherwise great history lasted for 12 years only - and exactly 12 years too long. The Germans paid an awful price for their mistake to trust him - a country bombed back into the middle ages, a third of the territory lost and 6 million people displaced as a result and 10 million people killed.
