Steven Otte - Where Art Thou

Got the latest, December, MR today.  A lot of stuff attributed to Cody, including the ASK MR section.  Normally Steven did this section

I routinely look over the list of editors to see if there have been any changes, and I notice that Steven is not listed.  This has been a change since the last issue.

Hope he didn't get left behind with the remains of the MR&T.

Oh that would be sad. Let's hope that's not the case.

According to Steve's LinkedIn webpage, he left sometime in August.  Steve last responded to an RA in the reporting forum on 8/26 so I'm guessing he left Firecrown shortly after that.  Steve is also no longer listed on the MR website staff pages.

Yeah, at least one other model railroading forum, not MRH, has indicated that Otte and Firecrown parted ways a few months ago.

Regardless of what we think of individual MR personnel, I hope Steve's departure is not a trend.  I would like to see an influx of existing as well as new people at MR to be visible on this forum. We are all clinging to existence on the forum by our fingernails and I just hope Firecrown jumps in and restores the forum to its previous status. We should all make an effort to show ownership that this forum has merit; that if the software could be updated to something that works well that old members, as well as new, will be here. "If they build it, they will come". just my $.02.

Regards, Chris

Unfortunately, these things happen when one company is taken over by another company. There could be a variety of reasons, none of which are our business. I wish Steve well.
