Top of the page.   Mussels for everyone.

I forgot to add I've been bingeing on the American Battlefield Trust commemoration of Gettysburg 160 years later

Learned a great deal that I did not know.  I lived 90 minutes away and made many trips to the battlefield.  If you have never been, it should be on your bucket list.

Kevin as a former haberdasher, I am wondering how tall you are and what you pants leg length is?

I am 6'7" tall, have a 34 inch inseam, 280 pounds, and I wear a size 17 shoe.

Even standing two steps behind everyone else I am still extra large!

I can even make a 12 liter engine look like a paperweight.

I hope to make it to Gettysburg one day. The only two battlefields I have toured are Little Big Horn and Shiloh.

Shiloh, for me, is the most fascinating battle of the American Civil War.

Hi Everyone,

Kevin: Let me guess, everybody called you "Tiny."

We had a very nice 4th here.  In the morning, we went to see "Sounds of Freedom."  It was a very moving movie.  First time I'd been to a movie theater in years.  Went home, took a nap, then off to a nearby minor league ball park for a ball game and fireworks.  We have 3 minor league clubs in the area, but I think only one is affiliated with a major league team.  The beauty of these is you generally have free parking, a 10,000 seat capacity stadium, and a very homey atmosphere.  We got seats a few rows back of the third base dugout. Really righteous seats.  Good baseball!  I did notice that it seemed that all of the pitchers only had a fast ball, would've liked to have seen some change ups, or a slider or curve ball, but hey it was still good and some of these guys had something on them too.  It was probably one of the better 4th's I've had in recent years.

The 4th of July was always my favorite holiday when I was young.  We all had our own fireworks and they were legal except for M80's and Cherry Bombs.  An M80 was powerful enough to blow a hand off, so those weren't really necessary to have lots of fun.

Less is more,...more or less!

I find it hard to pin down my favourite music, I’d be useless at deciding on a definite list for the likes of “Desert Island Discs”! But for “Yes” I keep on coming back to “Starship Trooper” especially Pt 3, “Wurm”.

When I envisage Railroad workshops, I tend to think along the lines of what has already been shown so far this month, HEAVY bits of stuff, or Eds photo of mundane/boring sorting of washers or spikes!! But as evidenced from this photo there were workshops dedicated to more delicate repair work.

Am looking forward to go to my first post-Covid Model Train Show tomorrow!!

Good afternoon

We watched the highway 36 bridge being built over the St Croix a few years ago.

Neat bridge, but wonder what the cat walk underneath is for.

Any ideas?

Well Kevin....  You are certainly someone I look up to!!!  You are a foot taller than I am....  LOL  That said, there is one guy I know here who I have to look up to even more.  He is our Boy Scout District Executive.  First time I met him I wasn't sure what to say!  He sets a standard that is difficult to measure up to... to say the least.  He is 7' 2"!!!!  He has a condition genetically that causes that and it is not healthy actually.  He has been a great District Exec. for us but is moving on to work for Habitat for Humanity soon.  He plans to stay active with Scouting but not as a professional.

The local news just had some stupid story about how some really smart "computer scientists" fed a computer with a bunch of data to determine what the "typical" Florida couple looked like.

This is what the "computer scientists" came up with:

Pardon me while I catch my breath from laughing so hard... this might take a while...

Good Evening

Judy wanted to hotel it on Minnetonka off the lake on a Friday Night tonight.  Now there's a surpriseLaugh

Forget boring you with a picture of the hotel room.  We were at a Mexican restaurant and told the young Kid we're going to need a good pizza for later tonight, after we get done with a few brewskis.

He did not steer us wrong, as this pie is just like, and maybe even better than Delano's.  We will drive out here again.  These Ma-Pa Italian Pizzerias don't get any better than thisDinner

Sorry. Comment removed.

I was not aware that calling a digitally created picture of an athletically fit good looking older couple "Canadian" would be insulting.

I guess since absolutely everyone everywhere else thinks it is OK to make fun of Floridian (or "Florida Man" if you prefer), I just have a thicker skin for that sort of thing.

To be honest, we bring it on ourselves, we are an oddball lot down here.

TF the cat walk is for walking your cat.

Greetings all from the Northern command post. Its been a while. Not sure last time I posted. All kinds of not so funs things have happened. Back in end of April the wife came down with mystery illness we now know was that thing we can't mention, we had to cancel a trip to see freinds in Chi-town because the lingering effects cuase bad fatugue. So then we plan a trip in June, and what happens my  84 YO mom falls and breaks her left shoulder. She did not want my dad to call the ambulance, he had drug her out of the small bathroom and into the living room then called me. Well I called the ambulance because there was no way we could get her up and out to a car  to get her to the hospital.

Luckily I work at said hospital so I cut thru some red tape and got dad back to where she was.

They decided not to do surgery and just let it heal. So we had to cancel that trip because he needed help navigating home health and hospital bed etc, becuase she can't go upstairs right now ( chair lift has been ordered).

Lost my pet sitter for a bit ( parents watched the guinea pigs for us) so hard to go on trips.

So I am worn out

Without catwalks for the inspectors they have to resort to one of these which can limit a full inspection:

Folks in Minneapolis can appreciate the value of timely bridge inspections:

"The original catwalks, in the 1880s, were on ships and backstage in theaters, and they were named for the careful, delicate way a cat walks."

Hmmmm.....  The only "catwalks" I knew about are the ones found in Theaters...  So I looked it up.  Interesting.....

He is 7' 2"!!!!  He has a condition genetically that causes that and it is not healthy actually.

There are health concerns that come with being too tall. The bottom of my rib cage is too far from my pelvis, and this results in some internals not being in the proper place.

There are lots of other things as well.

Kevin you qualify as Big and Tall.  I don't think I've ever known or worked with anyone 6-6 or bigger.  There was a kid who worked for a while at Planet Fitness who was 7 foot.

Moe-l-c Sorry to hear about your mom.  Mine broke her shoulder getting the newspaper during an ice storm.  It healed without surgery and she had pretty good range of motion.  She laid outside until a neighbor found her and no one called me until she had been in the ER for 12 hours and decided to admit her.  I was so mad I went into atrial fibrillation, having just had valve replacement a couple months before.

I don't know about computer generated Canadians but I worked with 2 Canadian nurses.  Both were beautiful women who married Americans, one stayed in the states and recetly just lost her husband.  The other took her husband and moved back to Canada.  She was French Canadian and had a lovely accent.

I have not adjusted to the summer heat yet.  Walking the dog in the afternoon is miserable, for both of us.  Bella is huffing and puffing.

I've noticed young people are always carrying water when they go to the gym or out for a walk.   I have never done that but this is the first year I can tell I am underhydrated and get dizzy if I am squatting in the garden and stand up.  I have been making more of an effort to stay hydrated.

Henry, It is interesting that you say that.

This year, for the first time ever, I am needing to put effort into staying hydrated. Like you, I first notice I feel dizzy when first standing up when I am getting dry.

I need to make effort to drink enough water now. Just drinking when I am feeling thirsty is not often enough.

Evening

Was out back soaking up the sights.  This cool looking Mom pulled up in a Yukon with five Kids flooding the parking lot.

Said Hi Mom, and opened the door for her as she was carrying all her bags, and she gave me this biggest smile and her comment.
