Here is a photo of my Ho Union Pacific Gas Turbine Gtel Big Blow Engine, I just need to finish the nose and the wind shield.then the couplers next project is my.Union Pacific Gas Turbine with for axs on. The front and rear of the engine.Yes I know the fuel tank is longer then the actual one you see on the Gas Turbine Gael engine. But i really  did not want to try cut the the fuel tank,And make it shorter was affra I'll damage the frame. As for the other Union Pacific Gas.Turbine that one will take some fig out how to make it work for the trucks and frpane.I gotta see how I can combine athearn frame and gle, them together and take two athearn two axle trucks and glue those together as well.

Okay I finally fgured out how to make my frame for my Union Pacific,Gas Turbine engine.I broke off the ends of a athearn GP40-2 frame I plan to jb weld the two ends,On to another athearn GP40-2 how do I find a worm geat that is long enough. To extend to the two ends I plan to weld to the motor I think I have. Some athearn worm gears is there a long enough.Drive shaft that I can connect to the two extentions that? will go from the two athearn 2 axle power trucks that will be welded? to the main athearn GP40-2 powered frame I am psoting a photo to see what I mean.Hope you can help me out once the frame is powered with the extetion I added,Next will be the shell for my Union Pacific Gas Turbine wish me luck you y'all. https://ibb.co/RTvFYNb

The picture is so small, hard to see the details on what your doing.  The 2 trucks closest to the motor are the only ones that need to be powered.

Is that what your doing?

Mike.

EDIT:  I opened the picture in a new window and was able to enlarge it.  It looks just one truck is powered.

If the middle frame section is from the GP40, use the drive shaft that came with that.  Weld the motor in so the drive shaft fit.

What type of drive shafts do you have?  The splined or the dog bone style?

I ran out of athearn parts I only have the 23 tooth gears that is all, I have no  ore 16 tooth gears, drive shafts, moto clips, worm gears. And no worm gear copper square. I just need the parts I mentioned above I ran out off,so I can power the 4 trucks in the photo I link I posted.I need. I also need these parts so I can power other ath trucks an motors I need also.and motor mount. I. Gonna have to save up some $$$ in order to buy all the parts I don't have.it will be expensive to get the parts I need to have. I need side frame trucks for two, three axle trucks. I forgot Im better off just getting two axle three axle power trucks,I ran out of wheels an the under clip, that holds the wheels in place.

No anvil on my extended frame that I glued with hot glue, Just for temporally so I used the dummy wheels for my engine frame. Due to me not having any gears or metal wheels i pushed the frame with 2 axle trucks, two on the front two on the rear of my frame. An the one half of the section I glued like in the photo link I posted. The truck came off the track. So I need to figure out how to make it work not sure how to do this now. Any ideas will be very helpful for me on this, I really want to make this work but it is not looking to good so far. 'm keeping my fingers' crossed for my Union Pacific Gas Turbine project.

My problem is the athearn two axle trucks the frame is fine,I decied to use a atheran F7A frame,But the part where the worm gear goes I photo copied my. Athearn F7A frame on my printer and then I cut the ends off.Where the trucks would go into.Of the photo copied frame and taped them to the main F7A frame too see what it is like.On my curved track the front end frame and rear frame.Sticks out lil bit on the curved track the front truck, rear truck derails so I need,To use another two axle truck that is flat where it will pibit and both trucks.Without derailing any ideas on what ther two axles trucks I can use? On ,my extend athearn F7A frame also how to make the trucks powered to the athearn F7A frame? Here is a photo of the issue I am have I attached a photo link below, not sure what I can do to make the work the front and. End of the frame is the proble, what do you recommend I do for my project to work for me?

I dug up my copy of Lee's book 'Turbines Westward' which contains numerous detail shots of the 4-truck turbines, and at least rudimentary dimensioned drawings.  Several shots show (although without extensive explanation) the roof detail as it evolved.

Note that there are also at least two separate trains pictured that used gas turbines and steam on the same train -- in both cases, with Big Boys.  There are three shots of a coal train with turbine 75 and Big Boy 4009...

As the trucks from several of the turbines were reused as 'traded in' on an order of GE U25s, it would follow that any model truck or sideframe with that wheelbase would be suitable.  Bear in mind that since these were span-bolstered it may be somewhat 'involved' to motor all four trucks and preserve the 'prototype' curve action.  I suspect Stanton drives for the inside or outside trucks are too rich for the project budget.

eBay currently has the 1990 edition for $28 with free shipping.  Just search on the title.

It is worth far more than that to you.

Update I am back in my train room I started working on my project going good so far,I cut one end off of the athjearn F7A but I temporaley hot glued the end piece and it breaks off the main F7A powered frame.I just pushed the F7A frame and the athearn F7A end piece,I noticed when I was doing this on the left of the end piece gets shorter and the right stays dose not break off,So I will have to make a short extention for the left side end frame other then that all is going god so far.I used a Kato F7A powered frame.I found two athearn Hi-F trucks I just need to find 2 more then I can.Connrct the other athearn F7A end frame piece once all is connected I will do a,Few test runs make sure there are no derailments if.All is good and then I work on the shell o r body of the UP Gas Turbine,Wish nbe best of luck with my project,Cheers and thanks for all the replies and help.Big SmileSmileYes
