Best Glue for N Scale Kato Mikado Drawbar (937010) Repair
Posted by randall2045 on Friday, January 28, 2022 1:31 PM

Unfortunatly I damaged the drawbar from my Kato N-Scale Mikado and replacemnet parts are unavailable. However it is a clean break of the drawbar and it should be OK if I can glue it together. Not sure what type of plastic the drawbar is made of (delrin?) and wanted to seek advice on the best type of glue to rejoing the two parts.

I am not familiar with the Kato Mikado, but I would not try to glue a drawbar together.

It should not be too difficult to make a new one.

I agree with Kevin.  It's easy enough to create a new one...simply remove the two pieces of the broken one, butt them together as best you can, then measure its length, width, and maybe the thickness, too.

Evergreen offers black sheet styrene in a variety of thicknesses, so all you need to do is make a copy of the original one, drill a suitable hole in each end, then install it using the original hardware.  The left-over sheet material will likely be useable for all sorts of repairs, and also useful if you want to do some scratchbuilding of rolling stock or structures.

Unfortunatly, the Kato Mikado drawbar is quite a "complex" piece - not just a "rod" with two holes .. making one would be diffciult to say the least.
