there are a million ways to do it. you have to do what you like best. Personally i use just cheap (sometimes free) packing styrofoam. I make it into the basic landform shapes and cover it with celluclay which you can get at most arts and crafts stores. While its wet you can press in your rock molds, or you can glue the molds on first and work around them. it makes no difference( mix in about 1/4 plaster for added strenghth and quicker drying). When it dries, i paint it with diluted latex paint in an old windex bottle. Its pouros so you have to give it lots of paint, it just soaks it up. when the paint dries, do your drybrushing and hilighting. then add any foliage you want. and the structures and all that. you can easily glue to it with elmers.

Theres 2 colors you can buy: gray, which is cheaper. And white, wich takes paint better. It all depends on your budget. a large bag of white costs about $22 and i did 4 modules and half a layout with 1 bag. It is incredibly light and strong, its perfect for places where weight and strength matter. i.e: modules, liftouts etc.

Its water soluble, has no fumes and is great to use inside. Youll have to expirement with how much plaster to put in it depending on how long you need to work with it. Above all have fun and if you dont like it, do it again. Good luck

--Joe
