As the saw didn´t even come today, I used the time to give my other FO loco an overhaul and replace the broken of detail parts. Actually, I was born in Düsseldorf, not Essen, but the cities looked very much alike in those years. While all of the WW II rubble was long gone in 1956, there were lots of barren properties with weeds growing tree high (no, not those kind of weeds [:-^]). I did not have to share a bed with my older sister and brother, but the three of us shared one room. As an Assistant DA, my Dad´s salary was not as high as a skilled factory worker´s wage, but fortunately that changed drastically over the years. Meager, but happy days!
