Acording to the MR review it pulls 38 cars?[/quote] I will have to take their word on it.  I dont have a long enough level tangent track to pull 38 cars.  As far as adding weight to the Bachmann:  The area inside the smokebox is hollow, so a piece of 5/8" or 3/4" diameter x 3/4"L brass bar stock should slip right in.  Any other Ideas about how to get the weight up? Also mine seems to have an electrical pick up issue.  I need to clean the wheels again to be sure though.
