<p>Interesting that you mention wind-up. A friend gave me an old book about model railroading....published in the early 1960s. I mentions wind-up as an option for modelers....albeit a fading option even as the book was being written. The author mentions how a careful winding could be used to have the train pass through the layout sections/yards and then stop at the destination desired......the winding up was a skill in itself it seems. </p> <p> I think that was purely a British or European option in the early days. The book was written in Britain.</p>
