Apparently, some of you were up late last night. Anyhow, I'm thankful we are living in a very peaceful location, and it is easy to simply not watch the news.
Weather guessers forecast sunny and warm weather here for the next few days. So, I'll work on the boat and get it into the water. .... We already read Sunday worship which the pastor emailed to church members. Next week, our church will re-open after several weeks of shut down because of the virus.
Everybody ...... Not sure if we have and agreement for the June Diner. A couple of you were favorable to a regional visit to include Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota. ..... Does anybody object ? ........ Is that okay ?
Also, I think Dave said he would open the Diner, If not, who will?
There were other good ideas for a location, and I hope we do them soon. I think it was Richard who mentioned Idaho, and I would like that.

I don't know that I ever drank Tang, but John Glenn did, and the inventor also invented Pop Rocks and Cool Whip.I have not really followed the space program since the Challenger blew up. It just occurred to me that supplying oxygen permanently, in space, is amazing. The astronaut in the space station seemed to be able to walk and I was wondering if he was wearing magnetic boots, when he leaned over, grabbed a little rail and shot down the hall.

I go in and out of fascination with our space program. Right now I am amazed and interested, but I know that this enthusiasm will not last all too long.
Still, I was excited when the launch was successful. I am glad we had a big achievement. That new rocket is just so amazing.

My Church never closed! Oh, the building is locked. But, our church is the people, not the building... Had a wonderful service this morning via Zoom...
I don't care we end up next month as long as it is away from the "stuff" going on around the world today.

A sunny, warm day here. Perhaps we will get a little planting done. We had a mild frost yesterday morning but that should be behind us now. We did bring in the trays of unplanted flowers and covered others.
Henry, yes I do remember Red Dwarf! It was one of my favourite shows back when. I especially liked the Cat. My wife liked it too.
I was running trains the other day being it was so cold outside. Ran that K5a again and I marvel at the skill of the local brass guru. I thought brass was noisy and ran just ok. Wrong! It now just creeps on speedstep 1 and it is as quiet as any plastic steam. I am looking at the possibility of extending my train table another foot or so so I can extend the straight tracks a little. While the Hudson can go around 22 inch radius it doesn't seem particularly happy doing so. I can run it at moderate speed without mishap which is good.
My offer on the brass CP Hudson was rejected. I have upped it a little so will see what happens but after talking to the shop owner, I will be surprised if the owner of the loco accepts it. He is in the U.S. and is looking at the price after converting to U.S. dollars but that is his problem. I have to look at the price I pay in my dollars. I may just bite the bullet and pay his price as truthfully it is reasonable compared to the asking for similar locos right now.
Was really busy yesterday doing grocery pickups and then bringing it all home, cleaning off with Lysol wipes and the sorting the stuff for my MIL for delivery to her place.
Got a nice surprise in the mail, a refund cheque on my car insurance. Due to covid there have been very few accidents so the insurance company did a refund. Mine was $118. Better than a kick in the pants as my Dad used to say. Say that would cover the taxes and shipping on that loco or an oil change on the car. Wonder which will win out? Help me.
Ed, that video of 2816 is just like the one I shot north of Thief River Falls! I had the window down and rested the video camera on the arm rest so I could video out the passenger window. Worked great. I was the only car following it for 50 miles. Luckily my car had large windows with a low sill so it worked good. A Volvo S70 if you were wondering.
Time to change the water in the bird baths. We have 4 of them scattered around the yard and one on a low stand for the squirrels. They use it so they stay off the ones for the birds.

I just need to man up and clear the air here. Last night's post made by me was tasteless. I didn't realize that until I was called on it later. I was only repeating what I had heard that deferred me from thinking of moving to the Idaho Oregon border where the climate is very nice.
I have friends from every religious and ethnic background. The way I said things last night was so out of context it's not even funny and it was my bad. I have learned to think before you hit the submit button from this.
What I meant to say is when you go to smaller community towns, usually you do not fit in right away just like changing a high school when you were young. My brother-in-law who rebuilt my Mustang can testify to this. He moved from New Orleans to Antigo Wisconsin to be closer to his father. Him and his wife were shunned for 5 years. I remember Judy's sister Barb crying all the time.
Fact. Idaho and Oregon and the upper part of Utah is prevalently populated by good God fearing Mormon people.

TF - we are planning to move to a small (better to say tiny) community in a foreign country. We don´t speak Danish (yet), we are not only foreigners, but also foreign in terms of customs and habits.
Yet we dare to make the move. I am sure we will meet friendly people to help us settle in. But we have to work for that!

We moved here over twenty years ago, and we are still newcomers to some. We were accepted very easily by people in our church, but not as easily in the community at large.
The hardest thing we encountered was the loss of anonymity. In the large city, you could go just about anywhere, shop anywhere, etc. In a small town, everyone knows everything.

Maybe it is a matter of I'm afraid to work at it again. I already feel like I've been there done that and worked through those kind of things when I was younger. I remember it was a struggle.
I am so well-liked where I live and have so many friends. The people who really like me took some time to get to know me. They can even respect the space of my negative sides as I do their's. Those kinds of friendships and relationships take a long time to acquire.
I would love to move to a more desirable climate as I'm growing older. Starting over to fit in, leave my old ones and meet new friends keeps me from doing it.
I'm afraid I may be somewhat afraid of it. It is leaving quite a comfortable comfort zone.

Don't sweat it TF, the more we participate in life the more we are likely to stumble. The fact you can easily apologize speaks volumes about your good character. Jay Leno once said to me "there is not a joke in the world that won't offend someone".
It is a rainy,cool, soggy, wet day on the coast and I am being a deadbeat today.
I had the trainroom bathroom gutted to the studs in less than an hour several months back. Two sinks, toilet and shower, flooring and drywall all gone. Normally I would have a job like that put back together in a very few days. Just don't ask, but at least there is light at the end of the tunnel. Renovations are pretty straight forward, usually, but not this time.
The kid has been hired by Canada's biggest sports media empire to be a hockey writer. They have seen his work writing for the OHL and stole him away. He was not even looking for a job but could not turn down the $ with the shutdown still on. He will likely be on radio and TV as well. He was going to do movie/TV work this summer but that is shut down. A couple of his director friends have mentioned a new Star Trek series that may be filmed in Toronto or Vancouver, if Vancouver he will most likely get work on that. Star Trek Discovery is filmed in Toronto but Vancouver has a ton of new studio space so the new series has a good chance of being shot here. He makes up into a good alien, I wish I could post pics of some of his past costumes and makeup jobs. NDA is brutal.
I am glad we are rural as that makes us very self sufficiant if need be. Living armpit to armpit is not for us. Being able to look after our own food and water if need be I find somewhat relaxing. Anything we need comes via the internet through courier/Canada Post. No need to seek civilization and the insanity it has to offer.
It is funny how a change in routine can change things. With Hockey not being on TV my muscle tone has completely changed. I always do situps and pushups during commercials while watching Hockey and I stopped when hockey stopped. It was noticable when I looked in the mirror the other day. I have now started again, but have to remember to do it. My two friends that use their once upon a time commuting time to workout are getting into fantastic shape. My BP was 102/62HR46 this morning, I am happy and feeling great. My weight has gone down with my shrinking muscles so we need to turn that around.
Well, I better stop boring you all.

Friday sucked! I fell in the backyard doing a Honey Do and Broke a Rib. To top it all off while I was at the ER getting my chest x-rayed they found I have Pneumona?
I can set, and laydown with out pain. But if I move man it hurts!
Dirk is very confused, has not been to the park for 3 days. He final gave in and did a #2 in our yard. My wife has to walk hime for now.

I am just recovering from a minor rib crack jumping up and leaned over the recycling bin. I may hold the record for as many times as I have cracked my ribs so I do feel your pain.
My worst one was New Year's Eve 2000. It was an unseasonable warm day for Minnesota. My neighbor Dominic across the street was having a party and asked me to pick up some coke for the rum mix and a 30 pack of White Castles.
When I returned to my driveway the seasonably warm day had gotten colder and the driveway flashed to glare ice.
I did not know this and when I stepped out of the truck with the 12 pack of Coke my feet flew out from under me and I fell on the corner of the Coke and cracked my ribs really bad. Those ones took a full three months to heal.
Again I feel your pain Ken, I hope your ribs heal much quicker. I know we're all pulling for you.
You already know this but don't laugh, sneeze or cough I really hope and pray you didn't crack them too bad. And I don't know about the pneumonia thing but I think you better lay low for awhile Ken. Hope you feel better soon.

If your intent was to apologize, you should have left well enough alone. I was offended by your original remarks and am once again offended by the adjunct to your apology. I have ancestors that were killed by hatred-based mobs in eastern Missouri in the early 1800's. As for me, I ride a Harley and crank up Nine Inch Nails. (Trumps Ted Nugent.) I did the same Henry. I'm on Nextdoor, on a desk top it's formated sorta like Face Book.
Now that major tools are at our place up North, I have room again. My attached garage is only 10' x 20', attached to a small cape cod. My Grandpa Ebert used to park his Crysler in there, it didn't quite fit. He added left over linoleum tiles to the back wall, so he could gently "bump" the car to the wall, to get the garage door almost closed. He was tall and thin, Grandma was the opposite, he'd wiggle his way into the car, and back out so Grandma could get in.
Been at our place up North the last 2 weeks. Going back on Monday, June 8. I'm building the doors from reclaimed barn wood, along with all the trim and base moulding. Cabinets, counter tops and all plumbing and gas lines are done. Appliances show up on June 8 as well, cook stove, refrig., and 5 cu. ft. freezer. It's hard to find any freezers right now, as meat hoarder's stocked up.
One of my trail cams up North has caught a black bear, which makes a visit a couple times a week. His/her back is even with the door handles on the Wife's Ford Escape. Other critters include an almost nightly visit from a fox, and a raccoon, along with all sizes of white tail deer (NO big bucks), and occasional a pair of cranes, and a few turkeys.
I think I might just hide up there until all this current crap is over. I stay away from the news, and life is good. Everything on any news channel, radio, TV and interent, is nothing but riot stuff.
I have lots of routine medical appointments this week, along with the wife having her cataract surgery, and I'm outa here! She has an extra week of recovery, and goes back to work at the podiatry practice on June 16. Sept. 1, she will be officially retired.
We'll be "snow birds" down in SE WI., and spend most the 3 other seasons in the North woods, on a chain of lakes.
