Stewart Lettering Removal

I've purchased two Stewart F3-A units factory painted in the GN Empire Builder scheme. I want to update the side lettering to the modern font with decals and need to remove the 'Roman' lettering. Anybody done this without having to touch up the GN Green? What would you recommend? 91% rubbing alcohol? If you DID remove any Green, what brand did you use to match it for touch up?

What you have here, is "silk screened" lettering,
that is a very thin layer of paint over the base color. I would recommend using one of those green "scotch-brite" scrub pads, VERY gently, using LOTS of warm water, and slowly "wear-down" the silk screened lettering. I have used this tecnique in weathering cars, and if you are careful, you won't harm the paint. Another "safer"
method, although more time consuming method,is to use a rubber pencil eraser. I don't recomend using any alcohol, (unless you feel like a beer),
as any chemical can damage the factory paint. If you use the pencil eraser method, after you are done, you will notice a little "shine" in the area treated, don't worry, just use a little warm water with normal toothpaste, that will restore the semi flat finish. Here again, work slowly, and don't go too far.
