I had a lot of problems with my Athearn steamers. Both of them had a plastic (nylon?) gear that broke after a few hours of use. <br /> <br />I have a couple of Bachmann spectrum steamers and they run very well. <br /> <br />The only other two steamers that I have are a BLI Cab Forward and a Trix Big Boy. Both are excellent runners, but were considerably more expensive.
