Turnout templates
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, January 3, 2005 7:42 PM
In the process of laying track for my new layout, I have run out of turnouts. Rather than simply buy new turnouts and then try to fit them into my layout, I would rather use some cardboard or paper templates to determine the proper turnouts to buy (I currently have #6 left and rights). Can anyone point me in the direction of a good page for turnout templates (specifically curvede turnouts)?

Thanks,

Neal

UNFORTUNATELY not all similary numbered turnouts are the same - different lengths, etc. IE: Brand B will not duplicate Brand C, nor A..

I start with a pencil grid 1' X 1' and draw my track centerlines with Magic Marker.

I draw cenerlines where turnouts should be / intersect and trim turnouts and track to conform.
