Anyone having my problem: having to log back on every couple of days?
Posted by OT Dean on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 12:03 AM

Seriously, it seems like every two or three days, I find the log-in box in the upper right side of the screen.  One night, a week or so ago, I had to log back on twice in the same evening!  I always check the "Keep me logged in" box, yet I keep getting dropped off and have to log back on again....

P.S. I had to log back in tonight 12:40AM, 7/26/2018!

I only stay logged in for one day at a time and have to re-log in the next day each day.  MR has commented this is normal and for security purposes I believe.  If you have do log in more than that, it may be an issue with your PC and its settings; particularly cookies.

Hmmmm...

.

I have to log back in from time to time, but I never really thought about it I guess. I need to log into so many sites for work everyday that this does not seem like a bother.

It's more like a week, but that's the cookie expiring. If you are runnign some third party AV/Antimalware tool it may be clearing your cookies more frequently.  No cookie = you get a login box. Nothing magical or mysterious.

Deano, what browser are you using? On my PC using Microsoft, there is no probem staying logged in for days and weeks. On my IPad, however, it does not stay logged in for more than a day.

riogrande5761, thanks, it helps to know that; maybe I'll uncheck the "Stay Logged In" box.  "If you don't ask, you don't know!"

That has never been an issue for me. I never stay logged in.

I have noticed the past week that Fiirefox times out when clicking on the website URL. FF is up to date. Cannot get to the site server I guess. Have not seen any complaints. I can get to any other sites in my bookmarks. Go figure.

Me too.  Logging in with the latest Safari, and also with Firefox, was pretty much impossible for the last couple of days.

I tried phoning up Kalmbach to tell them about it.  Got put on hold forever, and decided it just wasn't my problem.

This has happened before and "The Powers That Be" will not talk about it. I suspect the site is very slowly going downhill over time.

They seem to be having server issues now.

I only have to log back in every blue moon, now the lack of connectivity is getting annoying, hopefully Kalmbach will fix it soon.

It used to happen to me all the time, but lately it's been sporadic and less frequent. Maybe they made some website software changes, I don't know.

I also have a similar issue with the MRH website, with about the same frequency. Not as bad as the MR website used to be, though.

Nah...

Servers have to be maintained just like any other machine. Gotta take it of lion for some sorts of work, and sometimes connections just go belly up.

I suspect that the 'powers-that-be' do not even know of the issue, it is handles by a different department if not out of house entirely.

They will come back again.

I have that problem when I go between desktop and tablet or when I go to another wifi.  Lately, the site has had outages, too.

I just had to log in again right now....
I remember in the old days of the internet I used to go to a certain chatroom and every several minutes the server would boot everyone off and we would all have to log in again. It's a computer thing. It could be the server or it could be your own computer.
Oh well, ain't no thing but a chicken wing.

My particular problem is happening again.  Both last night and this morning it took almost a minute for this site to open.  That happens with no other site I go to.  I therefor blame the site, rather than my computer.

Needs repair!

I have been having the same problem of waiting, waiting, waiting to get into the MRR site and then more of the same to get into the forums. I haven't been able to access the Trains news either. These sites need some work. But then it seems with each "improvement" things degrade.

Curiously, I've found this morning that, if I've just been on the site, I can get back on quickly.  If I wait awhile, the lag-time occurs.
