That $450.00 markup for the printer does seem very high. . Is the printer modified in any way for the white toner?

There are 2 similar looking printers at Best Buy that had MSRP of 300 and 450 that are now 220/300.  The model numbers are different from the Micromark site.

There is a Ghost white website.  They sell the toner for a variety of printers, so as long as your printer is one that is listed, it should work.  (disclaimer should may not equal will)

Their instruction say to replace the black with white, print white, then print black and colors.  They don't mention any need to wash out the black before you print white.

Certainly a better alternative than to buy an ALPS printer, but I would check prices on the custom decal makers before spending that kind of money.

I heard rumors that someone was opening Rail Graphics again.

.

This is surprising to me following the discussions I had with Ron before he retired.

.

Is there any information that anyone has.

Last I heard there was a company that did castings and such that bought the equipment was San Juan Car Company, but haven't seen anyting nor is there a section on their site.

I used Precision Decal Co as they made me the decals I used to have made at Rail Graphics.

A word on the Alps MD-1000

I have an Alps MD-1000 and it makes great decals in any color, I especially love the gold flake for fire vehicles.

This is my second Alps, the first one did very good until a gear broke.  The second Alps has worked very good for about 5 years but then I don’t print much either, maybe 20 pages a year.

The Alps MD-1000 is a mechanical nightmare, when it’s printing it sounds like a thrashing machine.  Had I not been warned about the noise I would have pulled the plug the first time I used it.

I don’t think even a new Alps (Alps dropped support on the MS-1000 in 2004) would stand up to continuous usage . . . . but mine really turns out beautiful decals.

Well actually, they mention purchasing "RailGraphic" on their website, http://sanjuancarco.com/,  their other website, https://sanjuanmodelco.com/2018/07/17/san-juan-model-co-aquires-new-companies/, where there is a link to the decal website, http://sanjuandecals.com/.

Whether or not you can really get decals from them may be another story.

EDIT: Corrected first link.

There was another thread on San Juan this summer.  My conclusion from that thread, at that time, is they bit off more than they can chew and customer service has suffered.

I read all those pages rather carefully several times and I see no mention of them purchasing Rail Graphics?

I purchased sets of HO GP38 (Atlas) CSS decals from "Switchline Decals". The guy mailed them to me in the UK in no time. I haven't re-painted all my Locos yet, but I'm sure glad I found a supplier, in the States of course. Paul

Well, that's because I posted one of the links twice.  The first link should be http://sanjuancarco.com/.

I made a correction to my post.

So the next question is, did they get all the old files, can I just call them up and get reruns of my sets Ron did years ago?
