Still working on the handrailing for my scratch built gantry crane. Frustrated & cursing at my attempt at scratch building the stairs.
Does anyone know of a online hobby shop that has Walthers 933-2965 in stock ? Anybody ? Walthers has been out for a time. Discontinued .

If I did, I would buy them all up and sell them on Ebay. The last one sold 2 days ago for $227.50
Tichy and I think Central Valley make stairs. Best of luck.

Why not try these:

For the $12 price, you could get 2 or 3 kits, and with a little "bashing", create the steps your trying to make.

Another place I found on a Google search:
http://www.mainlinehobby.net/product/10203/933-2965-BLAST-FURNACE-DETAILS-HO/
They don't list it as sold out, so maybe they have one. Phone number is at the bottom the page.
Mike.

There is an availability tab. It is out of stock. They wouldn't be selling for that kind of money on ebay if the usual internet train stores had them. A small store somewhere might.
Mainline is a GREAT train store though. I don't know how much the Internet comprises of their business, but unlike modeltrainstuff, they have plenty of space for their walk in retail customers.
Shoot, I didn't know they were that popular. I have 3 in my basement sitting new in a box. Along with two rolling mill interior details, plus a few extra rolling presses. If I had extras I would sell it to you at MSRP.

plastruct makes stairs, ladders, and railings as well. You can buy from them direct on Amazon. I know I have.

Mike,
Looks like I'll have to go that route buying the Walthers fire escape stairs. Far easier than still trying the Tichy scratch built route.
Thank you to the rest of you guys too.
Walthers fire escape it is.
dragonriversteel...Far easier than still trying the Tichy scratch built route....
The Tichy steps are one-piece items, much more finely-done than the Walthers ones, and the handrails are one-piece parts, too, to be added to the steps as required (or not). The kit is part #8208, for $3.50. It includes a set of stairs, three different-size platforms, and handrails.
doctorwayne Tichy offers some very nicely-done steps and ladders, and also some nice open-grating walkway material, too... Wayne

Really? Is this how rumors get started?
i just got an email from them on December 20 that said nothing about this, and I just looked at their website and that seems to be up and running.
Same here!
In response to caldreamers above reply.

I known exactly of what you're saying, as I was unaware of any ready-to-use stairs or handrailings when I built the overhead crane shown below....
It was originally going to be one of two in a scratchbuilt blast furnace cast house, but I was running out of both money and room for the model. The complete furnace and its ancillary components (stock house, stoves, and the precipitators, scrubbers and baghouses) needed for such an installation. The casthouse and slag pit used-up close to 9 square feet of space, and the other parts would almost triple that.I decided to simply model the crane, and it's actually a composite of several cranes in use in the mill in which I worked. Since cameras in-plant were strictly forbidden, I made sketches of the various components that weren't normally visible unless you were actually on the crane...one of the advantages of operating some of them. The main parts of the model were done with styrene, but the railings, structural steel on the crane's bridge and trolley, and most of the stairs were scratchbuilt from basswood. The crane languished for around 20 years in a shoe box, until we finally built a house with a basement suitable for a decent-size layout. Not too prototypically, I decided that a partial crane runway behind the engine shop was a good place to put the crane, even though several of the real cranes on which this one was based were outdoor cranes.
