Once again, a step backwards not forward?

Why no more links on the right side to go back to your discussions, etc?

I see 3 boxes, one for sign-in; one for search the community and one for newletter sign-up. Maybe they decided to get rid of the clutter? Seem like a page design change and the new changes will be uploaded later.

And they seem to have lost the thing at the bottom of the postinns list where you can check your personal messages. Anyone else been able to find where to check PMs?

Yeah. Go over to the Classic Trains site. It still works there.

Last night I noticed, again, that the "Users Online" window had been hacked. This has been happening often. Last night it was discount caskets and well drilling and another one for cheap car rentals in Florida.

Maybe the forum gurus have to revamp some things to eliminate that?

Regards, Ed

I noticed the change earlier today.  I have no idea why it changed.  The PMs are not to be found either.  Maybe they'll be an explanation tomorrow from Kalmbach...or maybe not. Confused

If you go all the way back to the forum home page, the user window with your links to your personal stuff is still there, but when you open a thread, it is gone?

There is an old saying, or maybe Patrick O'Brian just made it up for his Master and Commander series of books,  "May nothing new happen"

On the other hand they had to pick weevils out of their breadIndifferent

An overhaul is in order, having the search function buried half way to China was silly, and it was largely useless anyway. Give it a couple days, it will probably get straightened out. I hope.

OK, I thought it was just me.  I tried IE 7, Fire Fox, and Edge, with Windows 10.

All with the same results.  I also noticed the big pop-up about the different books was gone.

The right column is pretty much blank, with a shorten version of the green box, that says welcome, no extra links below it, like before, and practically nothing else.

Now at the bottom of the page all I see is "search the forum" and an ad of some sort.

I got an e-mail notice of a PM, but those links haven't worked for me for some time.  I came here, and found the usual entry point to PMs was missing, but after a little bit of poking around, found a way in:

At the very top right side of the screen, in very small print, is the word "Resources".  Click on that, and in the drop-down menu which appears, click on "Community".  Your recent activity log and PMs will appear.

Don't bother clicking on "Community" in the black band under the MR logo, though - it won't take you to the same place.

I find that all IT departments feel that occassionally they must  throw a well designed, easy to use web site in the blender to earn their keep. Almost every site I visit experiences this. IT guys have never heard the phrase "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." This morning I came to the site. At the top was: log in or register. I logged in, instead of a welcome, it said log in or register again.

But you must always choose the lesser of two weevils. Stick out tongue

Yeah, it might have been nice if they'd posted a thread about the updates, but at least we know they'll probably straighten it out, unlike some other websites I could name.   Whistling

All of them IT folks?

Perhaps it's something that is broken that you have zero exposure to and the fix is closing a hole to your personal info.
