Good Evening! It´s been a slow day here. The weather wqs rather dull, more like November already. I spent some time with my friend Lothar, discussing his plans for a new layout. His youngest son moved out a few weeks ago, and my friend is now preparing his son´s room for a layout. Basically, it will be an around the walls, shelf-type layout, depicting northern German landscape with a harbor scene, a lighthouse and all the works necessary to capture this atmosphere. The track plan is still in the making - guess by whom? I won 1 bid for a pair of turnouts including motors, and I lost one. I need one more pair, a set of clip-on turnout motors, 1 Peco turnout and a few lengths of flex track to have all the track I need for my layout. It´ll take a few days to source all that at "The Bay", but the saving vs. buying new is tremendous. That pair of turnouts cost less than a single manual Minitrix turnout! Next week, I will start on the benchwork. It´ll be the old fashioned open-grid type for ease of construction. I think I will have the basic layout up and running in time for the holidays! Alvie - congrats on the decision to come back to the world of model railroading. You know, once you are infested, you are hooked for a lifetime! Time to go to bed - CU tomorrow!
