Questions about paint on a Branchline passenger car model
Posted by Omaha53 on Monday, November 20, 2017 11:51 AM

I have 3 Branchline passenger cars that are painted yellow and gray for Union Pacific. I want to remove the red car name and replace it with a different name. On other models I have successfully removed car numbers with 91% alcohol. I tried it on one of the car sides and the yellow paint around the car name came off beautifully sad and left the car number intact. Does anyone know what paint might have been used for the red name? Is there something that would remove the red name and leave the background armour yellow?

Since I am now going to have to patch the armour yellow background, does anyone know a good formula? I have some Polly-Scale armour yellow but it is very yellow.

Yes: scraping it off with a brand new X-acto #16 blade. Or equivalent.

You'd probably want to spray on some gloss before decaling.

Can't help with a match.  My inclination would be to mix it using my favorite brand of paint.
