HELP! Hard to find part needed
Posted by Santa Fe all the way! on Sunday, June 18, 2017 10:29 AM

I've got a tiny HOn3 or HOe steam loco from Jouef that is missing a tiny gear. This is all I need to get her running again! It's the loco that comes in their Western set from the early '60's. The gear is a 12 tooth measuring 5.5mm in diameter x 1mm thick with a 1.5mm bore. Im working on posting pictures. Thank you for any help, it's really a neat little loco and I'd love to get it running.

Try Northwest Shortline  http://www.nwsl.com/

They have a gear request form. Fill in as much info as you can and they will try to find one that will work.

I tried to sell my two cents worth, but no one would give me a plug nickel for it.

I don't have a leg to stand on.

I did that, they responded that they could modify one, but since haven't answered my emails?? After I asked for price for 3 pieces, no response. Do they have a minimum order?

I'm really not sure but you might find something in the slotcar section of ebay. Perhaps this item but I can't really tell if it's the right size:

Hi there. I did some searches on the Web. Found out that Jouef had bought out Egger-Bahn, the original manufacturer, and produced these sets only a few years in the 60s. Later on, not 100% sure here, but it appears that Roco took it up in the early 80s. All this to say that you might want to find a donor engine from an engine produced by any of these makers, through Ebay for example. But you might want to do more homework to get the right engine and part.

Santa Fe all the way!
Northwestern Shoreline has found a gear for me!! Thanks!

I'm glad that NWSL was able to help. They are a huge blessing to the hobby. I have used their parts and Stanton drives on several occasions. Their stuff is excellent!

Just to be clear, the proper name is North West Short Line. I'm sure they would appreciate us getting that part correct.

Sorry for the spelling error, autocorrect did that. I should have noticed and fixed it.
