Hello My daughter and I are going to Slade Ky at the end of June to the Kentucky reptial zoo its all snake's they do venom extraction. But we are getting a room in Cincinnati. We will be in Cincinnati on a Thursday by noon going to the zoo there. We will be going to Slade Ky on Friday for most of the day. Saturday is open and I would like to see some train's anything I must see while we are there eather in/by Slade/Cincinnati. I will have my own car to get around in. Thanks Frank
The Cinncinati Union Terminal is worth a visit. The Art Deco building has several historical exhibits inside, as well as its spectacular architecture to recommend it. There's a model RR club in there also IIRC, but not sure of when or if it's available for public tours.

There is a former C&O extended vision caboose at the rest area in Slade. The rails are long gone from the area.

Ditto on Mike's suggestion of Cincinnati Union Terminal - beautiful building! And be sure to take the behind-the-scene tour, if it's available.
EnterTrainment Junction (north of the I-275 Cincy bypass on I-75) is also worth a visit. Very enjoyable.

I don't know if you can find the time during this trip, but the Hocking Valley Scenic Railroad in Nelsonville Ohio (about 3 hours east of Cincy) is a great ride. Since you live in Ohio, you may have already been there. If not, its worth a trip on its own. Have fun with those snakes!
Just north of Union Terminal (Museum Center now) on Spring Grove avenue is the yard entrance to Queensgate yard, almost all trains through Cincinnati go through here. Some decent views from public property. Up the road a little further is a Kroger parking lot with good views. But best is the crossing in Glendale which is just north of Cincinnati. Safe area, food trackside, and a lot of trains.
If you stay at the Courtyard in Covington, you may watch trains on the bridge over the Ohio River.

Mlehman Union Terminal We will be stopping there how can you pass up seeing the Hall of Justice I mean Union Terminal.
SSW9389 Thanks for the link I have run across that page before working on my family tree and forgot all about it. My grandparents are from Wayland Ky I found some neat history form that area. I just wish I would have kept better track of it but most of I did not need for the tree.

Slammin Yes I have seen that RR but was unable to ride. This trip is for my daughter's science club. They take a trip somewere for a day or two once a year. I try to make some train time if we are close to something. Last year we were in WV and stayed by Cass WV didn't get ride there either but seen a lot.
Chessie Thanks for the directions I was looking on google maps and seen there was a lot trains and track but was unsure if there was a good place to get a look.
Garry I stayed there about 15 years ago I forgot all about that. Its to late to move now. We will be on the north side of town.

Only real, old school, train hobby shop left is in northern KY, Tim's Trains.

Hello well we made it back. We had a change in plans we left on wednesday insted and went to Kentucky on Thursday and got rained out on Friday. I seen a few trains in Cincinnati on are drive and we made it to Cincinnati Union terminal but it was raining to hard to get out side photos. But we had a good time anyway. Thanks for all the help.
