Neither one is the right color (rust), but I do wonder why Walthers makes them so darn shiny.

Paul,I dunno why they are so shiny but,a little of  Panpastel rust will cover that. As far as the centering spring so far so good. If those springs becomes a issue in the days,months or years ahead,I have lots of KD 148s to remedy the problem..

Atlas has some deal with Accurail; they seem a bit better than McHenry's but they look awful.

Jim back in late 90s I had a Atlas slurry tank car to operate on the club's layout for several months before  the Accumate couplers broke..

The 64,000 dollar question that still remains unanswered to this day is how did it make it pass the club's freight car inspector? The other 64,000 dollar question is why nobody noticed it before it broke?

It took several days for me to get over my embarrassment..
