    Hi everyone,

Has anyone heard of the website www.modeltrainbeginners.com?  He promised that he would send out seven books about model railroading for free?  You would have unlimmited access to their library. The first hundred days would be free. Afterwards, you would be charged $28.00 per month.  You could leave any time you want. Is this legimate.  It seems too good to be be true.  Has anyone took advantage of this offer? I wonder if this is a hoax.

                                                                                           Thanks,

                                                                                             Chris

He sent some emails 6 years ago  http:/cs.trains.com/mrr/f/88/p/174591/1919065.aspx" target="_blank">http://cs.trains.com/mrr/f/88/p/174591/1919065.aspx

The Youtube video on his site has all of 2 comments.  It looks like this is a one guy shop.  Any of the current model railroad mags have more that one writer, which means more ideas and ways to do things.  It's probably not a hoax but not worth $336/yr to me.

Undoubtedly you will be asked to enter a credit card number to receive the "freebies" and afterwards you can "cancel anytime"  I wouldn't count on that being as easy as the signing up.  Maybe I'm wrong and the guy is a genius.  The too good to be true test has never let me down.

An acquaintance ordered what appear to be the same books some time ago. The material was recycled from on-line sources and other publications. There just aren't very many "secret" tips and ideas in the hobby to be revealed.

In addition, the basic grammar, vocabulary, and spelling errors on the first page of the site are enough to give one pause before sending credit card information.

Sounds like the same suspect type of thing as all the absurd titles you can find on Amazon searching for model railroad e-books (i.e. "Necessary AdviceConcentrating On Model Train Layouts").  Alrighty then, they can't even write a proper title for their book, I'm gonna go ahead and guess they can't write anything else worth reading either.    Beyond that a $28 month subscription is insane For just about anything That doesn't help you generate income. I pay about 2X That for unlimited access to practically every software package Adobe offers.
