Jimmy,  Thanks for opening the WPF, appears you were on the nice side of Santa's list.

RDG Casey,  Nice shot!

Frank,  Tug looks good, especially the wheelhouse interior and wainscoting.  Can commiserate with you, day five with a case of the flu and still feel as though I've been run over by a Mack truck.  So it is I'm reaching into my photo library for something nautical.

Thanks to all the contributors, wishing everyone good health and good modeling, regards, Peter

Heartland Division CB&Q

JE Corbett.... My Union Station is part of my "protolanced" CB&Q.. I would like to have postitioned it next to the tracks as was the Omaha station, but layout space restrictions precluded that from happening.

Garry,

My railroad is freelanced too. When I was planning it I debated whether to put it over the tracks like you did or configure it like the prototype. Because I grew up in Omaha I have a fondness for Burlington Station have gone there to meet many relatives as well as a Christmas/New Year's trip to Chicago in 1959. I really wanted to recreate that look as much as possible even though my fictional railroad is located nowhere near Omaha. I do like the way you configured it as well.

I've considered building a diaroma of the joint Burlington/Union Station complex with connecting concourse but I would have to scratchbuild Union Station and it is fairly ornate so it would be quite a challenge.

I'd sure like to hear more about the RDCs

I have tried 3 times to upload my RDC video to Photobucket and it failed every time. Grumpy

I really like the Rapido RDC. It has a LokSound decoder programmed with RDC sounds. When you turn on DCC track power, it goes through a startup sequence. First a starter motor whine, then the diesels start, followed by a knocking sound which is the air compressor. It creeps along slowly at speed step 1, and runs smoothly. It has the usual bell, horn and lights controlled by function buttons. A number of horn sounds are available. F9 turns on 'class lights' which are red LED tail lights. These lights switch ends with the headlight when the direction is reversed. Another function button is 'Run 4'; RDCs had 4 speed steps. Run 4 sets the motor sound to max RPM. Another function is brake, where the RDC will slow and come to a full stop until the button is pressed again where it returns to its set speed.

There is a small ziplock bag with additional parts including filler pieces that fit between the pilot sections under the coupler, etched metal screens to protect the windshields, a fireceacker antenna, and some other stuff.

The only problem I had was one side of the pilot was a bit low and was snagging on turnout guard rails. These are separate factory installed parts. I was able to pull it off and re-glue it.

Ah...  OK, I know I am a bit late to the Party, but it has been very busy around my place.....  I did manage to get some stuff done on Keuka Creek and at Milo Mills above it on the layout.

Built a stone abutment for the bridge I am planning:

Glued it in place where it will set:

Here it is after the glue set up:

It was made from New England Brownstone cut stone strips cut to size.
