TRIX BR 50 smoke
Posted by JimMac on Saturday, November 26, 2016 10:48 AM

Hi..does anyone know if the TRIX BR 50 22785 will support a smoke box e.g. 7226. I know it's Marklin 37835 cousin will but the Trix's description is vague.

and will it emit smoke from the piston cylinders and whistle in addition to the stack?

thanks much and have a nice holiday season

Unfortunately, not.

The smoke unit in that loco is one of the old fashioned and not very realistic looking units which emit smoke puffs at intervals totally independent from the speed/revolution of the wheels.

There is only one loco in HO scale I know of which has a Dynamic smoke feature with smoke also coming from the cylinder valves - its Roco´s DB class 10

It still looks like a cigarette-on-wheels to me. Smile, Wink & Grin

By the way, if there's smoke coming out of the cylinders or whistle, it may indicate a fried decoder - smoke from those sources is entirely unprototypical.

thank you Meheetu, I like this loco very much. but how is the durability and reliability compared to say Marklin and others? I'm curious.

I'm going to check the prices and reviews now.

Thanks again,

Jim
