Anyone planning on attending the Berea train show next weekend? I'd enjoy meeting up with anyone interest on Saturday - say, 12:00 noon - in front of the 2nd building on the left, down from the main entrance gate.

Isn't that the same location we met at? If all goes well and the creeks don't raise I should get there around 10-10:30 Saturday.
I have my list already done. I'll keep a eye out for other goodies since Berea has tons of goodies to offer. Two things I'm looking for is a P2K SW1200 lettered for ACL in the purple and silver scheme-a SSRY project-and any IPD shortline boxcar I don't have..
I just hope the coffee is better this year then it was the last time I was there.

Yea, that's the location we've met at before, Larry. It's centrally located and - if it ends up raining that day - there's enough room just inside the doors to meet without being in other folks way.
I'm planning on getting there when the gate opens so that I can make my initial loop through the buildings before going back for the purchase round" - i.e. if there is anything worth buying. And, as usual - I'll be donning my black NYC hat and red NYC pin gray Hudson t-shirt.
I'm in. May be joined by two sons & their kids so I'm not a 'fer sure' for noon but I'll be there for a few hours so I'll look for the NYC hat and it may be you. I'll be under a white hat with a C130 Hercules on front.

Just a heads up: Looks like the present [weather prediction for Berea] is rainy (50% ) and coolish for Saturday so bring your umbellas and light jackets with you. If it's drizzling/raining at noon we'll meet just inside the doors of the "double-building", on the south side of the central concourse, near the concession area. While I'll be wearing my black NYC hat, I'll probably be donning my brown fleece jacket to keep warm.
I was hoping to go to the show on Saturday, but with rain forcasted for most of the day, I'll probably pass. the last time I was there and it rained, the parking lot was a swamp. Too bad as I really like that show.

Hi tstage, It's not me so much as it is the wife. She has a leg brace & is legally blind, so walking in those conditions for her is too risky. And we always attend these things together, as she enjoys railfanning & train shows as much as I do.
Understand, Tom. Maybe you and your wife can make it next year.
I will be wearing, weather pending, a EL tshirt, and NS cap, might have a rain jacket and/or a hoodie, depending on temp forecast tmrw. If it is a hoodie, it will also be NS, rain jacket is blue/grey.
Sorry tstage Tom, I am all out of pinãta outfits. Besides, you wouldn't get candy from me using a stick anyways...

I usually make the trip to this show, but this year I've been very frustrated by not having as much time as I'd like to work on my backlog of rolling stock projects.
So, instead of heading out to buy more stuff today, I'm going to stay home and use the same time to work toward finishing some of the things that have been languishing on my workbench.

As luck would have my '95 Buick called it quites for keeps yesterday so,instead of buying trains today My son and I will be shopping for new wheels. I already have one in mind a 2006 Jeep Commander. I know the owner and that Jeep has been well taken care of.
Well, Larry, you were missed. Hope you are able to find a good, reliable replacement for your '95 Buick.
Allan and grandson, Zachery, Rick, Rick, I, and another forum member (who's name I've momentarily forgotten - sorry) all met up around noon outside Building 20. Allan and I have met several times before over the years but it's always fun to put faces to new names. And, despite the predictions, it actually turned out to be a very nice day weather-wise.
I have to say I was a bit disappointed in the show this year. I generally make a first-pass through all the tables to see what's there then go back and stop off at specific ones that caught my eye. O-scale & N-scale offerings seemed to be up and HO-scale seemed to be down. My want list wasn't very large so it was fairly easy to peruse a table then move on. Within an hour and a half I had seen everything and the only thing that I went back for was a TCS MC2 decoder.
There was also a Comic-Con going on simultaneously at the fairgrounds. Numerous Star Wars characters, Captain America, and Dead Pool could all be seen walking up and down the outdoor concourse. And I saw more security wandering the grounds and buildings. I don't know who was more dangerous: Princess Leia...or the MRRers. I will say that I saw some very interesting individuals from both parties.
Anyhow, all-in-all, it was worth the 35-min. drive and $7.50 entry fee for me. Guess I'll have to keep my eye out on eBay for the items still on my list.

I managed to pick up a BB SD40-2, and decoder to go with, both for under $65 total, so a good deal in my book, a couple rail cars, including a NS Lake division platform car (aka a caboose), and the obligatory railroad T-shirt. I Stayed in Berea to railfan, and caught NS 955, the OCS, rolling through! That was a surprise! Will post pics later. (Maybe video? It was shot on my cell, as my video camera is @home, in PA... Video is of unknown quality on bigger screens... I shall check it and see later on.)

Actually, I drove 3 hours last night from western PA to make the 35-min. drive this morning to the train show. Do you live up near Erie?
I do, I am about 30 minutes south of Erie.
EDIT: And yes, the restaurant has reopened. It was quite busy tonight, so me and my friend I rode with went elsewhere.
I'm in Indiana - west of I-79 on US422. Glad to hear the restaurant is back open again, Rick. It's such a classy depot that I always like seeing it occupied and being taken care of it.

Tom,I would hate to think that show is going South like several other shows I attend has over the past few years..I should be able to make it to the Dalton show on November sixth.Then the Marion Show-I cut my list down to three this season.
Of course the Bucyrus show is in April and I will attend since its across town.
BTW. I bought the Jeep since I know its history and how well it was maintained and pampered.He also lower his price by a very large amount since he knows I will take good care of his "baby".
The down side is that will bite into my hobby budget over the next few months and on the up beat side there will be no car payments.

I did not purchase a lot, spent some money on tools from the tool guy, got a screw sticker, some glue applicators and 3 more tweezers of various shapes. Also got some ingot molds and round coil covers from State Tool and Die. These will be used for loads in my gons and replacements on the coil cars.
