Afternoon Folks!

Mr. Murphy has decided to stay with us!

This morning, I gave the balalsted track a good clean-up, vacuumed it and got ready for a test run. No derailments - fine, but two switches quit working. The little spring inside the Peco switches must have been dislocated in the process of ballasting. Fortunately, you can open the box holding it from the top, so after a few hours of precision surgery, for which you need a watch maker´s patience, I got those tiny springs back where they belong. After that, I painted the rest of the backdrop, so it is just blue for the moment. It´ll stay that way until I have found out how to make better clouds.

The following test run revealed another problem area. Those little pick-up shoes on the blades didn´t make sufficient contact anymore. A lot of tweaking was necessary to get that fixed.

No more w*rk on the layout today. My back is still yelling at me from yesterday´s and today´s exercise. A day to relax...
