Ulrich I am surprised you have bachman after all of the rants on here about how bad they are , did you buy a Bachman plus ? What is Ascension day ? How did Bachman break the Euro laws with the Bachman ?
YGW - Bachmann is the sole supplier of (affordable) On30 locos and cars, so there is no other option for me. I think that the quality of Bachmann products is much better than their reputation. The locos are well detailed, and smooth performers at a fairly low price. Compared to the likes of Marklin, Roco and Fleischmann, they are a steal. I just have to learn how to live with a few oddities, like detail parts are not glued but only "clipped" in, or a loco shell is not held to the chassis with a single screw, but up to 20. The reason why Bachmann is violating EU law has nothing to do with the product itself, but the required paperwork around it. There is no CE conformity declaration nor a manual that´s worth to be called that. Interesting fact is, that the European brands of Bachmann, i.e. Graham Farish and Bachmann Branchlines in the UK, and Liliput in Austria, all are CE conform. Products which are not CE conform are supposed to be banned from the EU markets. Maybe that´s the reason why German dealers by them from Bachmann USA.

Ascension day is a catholic holiday - the day when Jesus ascended to heaven. It´s a national holiday in Germany, although we are predominantly of protestant belief.
