Gave my new loco a thorough test run. She runs like a charm, right out of the box! Checked the lubrication and added a drop here and there. The motor growls a little at slow speeds, but I guess that´s due to the PWM DC I use. The decoder is still in, which means starting voltage is at about 7V. Once going, I can reduce this by 1 or 2V. Top speed is at about 40 scale mph, which is quite OK for this beast.

My layout needs to be about 10" shorter, so I will have to rework it a little. A quick check showed, that this can be done without spoiling the overall effect of the layout. Next step? Get the benchwork built!
