Im planning on adding dcc sound and smoke to my bachmann 2-6-0. The smokestack is 3mm wide and has a hole for a smoke unit about 20-25mm tall. What brand and type of smoke unit would you guys recommend for my locomotive?
I would not recommend smoke. Not realistic, messy and only for kids.
Bachmann sells the smoke unit for the DC version 2-6-0 if you really insist.
How the smoke unit fits. 0-6-0, 2-6-0 and 2-6-2 probably. All based on the 0-6-0 frame.

The DCC 2-6-0 is different.
Most at the Bachmann forums would say the same. I have seen it many times.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.
You are probably going to want to do this anyway so here is a install. Hope you have the necessary abilities. It is not plug and play.
There is anothr brand but don't remember the brand of smoke unit.

Seuthe of Germany sells smoke units. They have been around for over 50 years, making smoke units for the big brands like Marklin, Fleischmann, Roco etc.
Regardless of the brand, the smoke, is not at all realistic and leaves an oily residue all over the loco, track and structures. Not to be recommended.
oily residue all over a loco, how is that not realistic? I love smokers!!!
My wife tolerates my hobby, but if she smelled the smoke that would be the end of it.
I'm the king of my castle as long as I agree with my wife. She's put up with me for 51 years so I guess I'll keep her.

You have to get a fan driven smoke unit like BLI and MTH. I use JT's in my HO locomotives and it works great. None or very little residue and depending what fragrance you use it smells great.
Steam engines smoke and if I run steam they better smoke and do it well.
The op wants smoke, so he should not listen to all the nay Sayers! Do what you want it is your trains and your layout.
Your best bet is to buy a loco commercially like was suggested.
