I know one vendor (a friend of mine) who wasn't at Springfield this year because his wife had a stroke.  He's staying home to help her recover, but he does expect to return next year.

And I heard a rumor that one vendor wasn't at the show this year because he was recently shot.  Killed?  Wounded?  On purpose or by accident?  That I don't know.  But supposedly shot, in any case.

Shot, not killed.  From what I heard it was a case of wrong place, wrong time (in home of intended target, got shot as well because he was there).  I don't know the exact circumstances, where it happened or if what I heard was completely accurate.  The last I heard was that he was recovering from his wound(s).

Well, that's good to know (that he's recovering).  Many people I talked to were disappointed that he wasn't at the show, and few knew anything about the shooting.  I wish the guy good luck, and hope he has a quick recovery.
