i accidently cut the wire leading from the motherboard to the wheel pickup on

proto 2k sd9 i need to replace it so i need to know where can i get that small

a wire to solder back on & what gauge is it ???? thanks

I measured the wire in one of my Proto 2Ks and it measures 28 AWG.  Do a eBay search for 28 AWG wire under Model Railroad/HO.  I buy my wire from TCS, they’re largest wire size is 30 AWG but it would work in your Proto.

I use 30 ga. TCS wire as well, but mostly for wires that do not need to flex a lot. It has only 7 strands.

Soundtraxx makes 28 ga. wire that is 38 strands which is much better for applications like getting power from the truck because it is designed to be flexible. It is not available in as many colours, but I have a set of paint pens to cure that problem. This is a great source:
