They are DCC/ Sound equipped. My question is WILL they also work on DC?
BLI engines use decoders that work on DC - in fact, it's pretty hard to find any decoder (sound or not sound) that is not set up to work on DC also.
Be aware however, that if you bought the engine used, it's possible the prevous owner could have set a CV to make the engine nonfunctioning on DC. Sometimes a decoder will not work right on DCC because it's having trouble deciding if the power it's getting is DC or DCC. Setting the decoder to only work on DCC usually solves that problem.
If it's a Blueline unit, there is sound only. DCC motor control decoder was separate.
