Go to First Unread?
Posted by Rip Track on Sunday, November 22, 2015 7:36 AM

Is there a "Go to First Unread" option for threads here?  Sorry to bother with this. After a search,  I found something about a "Replied to This Thread" button.  But I don't see it.  Confused

Welcome

Yes and No. Somewhere in your account settings is something that looks like it might work, but it doesnt. Here on the MR side the posts list themselfs from first to last. You can then click on the button to reverse that from last to first, but it looks like that button is greyed out. It is not. It will work.

Over on the trains side it lists from newest to oldest, which makes more sense, but the forum is what it is, you will just have to reconcile yourself to its proclivities and let it go at that.

You would think that the format changes (from 2-3 years ago) would be uniform across the various trains.com fora.  But - for whatever reason - they're not. Huh?

There are filter buttons at the top list of posts after you click on a forum posting group (ie General Discussion).  One of the filter buttons is Unanswered and another is Unread.  The unanswered button works.  The unread button does not, probably because there are generally no "unread" topics for more than a few minutes on this forum (worldwide membership).

Thanks guys.  This is the only forum I frequent that doesn't seem to have an option to go to the most recent post of a thread.  Whether I sort the thread by ascending or descending order, I find myself trying to recall the date and time I left off. It gets a little frustrating the longer the thread gets.
